St Paul’s Footsteps in Greece | 5-Day Private Biblical Tour
Duration
- 5 days / 4 nights
- Suggested duration · Tailored on enquiry
Journey
- Athens · Corinth · Berea · Thessaloniki · Philippi · Kavala
Overview
Follow the biblical footsteps of St Paul through Greece on a private five-day journey linking Athens and Ancient Corinth with Berea, Thessaloniki, Philippi and Kavala. Designed for individuals, families and private pilgrimage groups, the route brings together places associated with Paul’s ministry and the early Christian communities of Greece.
Visit the Areopagus in Athens and the Bema at Ancient Corinth, continue north to Berea and Thessaloniki, then explore Philippi and the Lydia area before reaching Kavala, ancient Neapolis. The sequence is designed for a practical modern journey rather than a chronological reconstruction of Paul’s travels.
The suggested itinerary starts in Athens and finishes in Thessaloniki after the Kavala stay. This avoids an exceptionally long final drive back to Athens. Athenaos can tailor the journey around your faith tradition, study interests and preferred pace, arranging licensed guiding or requested church visits subject to availability. An Athens return can be planned with extra travel time or an additional day.

Itinerary
This is a suggested private itinerary. We confirm the final sequence, visit arrangements and overnight locations in your proposal.
Day 1: Biblical Athens and Ancient Corinth
Begin with the Areopagus area in Athens, associated with Paul’s address in Acts 17, then travel to Ancient Corinth to visit the archaeological site and Bema. A stop at the ancient port of Cenchreae can be included if time and access allow. Return for an overnight stay in Athens.
Day 2: North to Berea and Thessaloniki
Make the longer road journey north with planned breaks. Visit the Apostle Paul monument in Veria, ancient Berea, before continuing to Thessaloniki. The time in Berea is balanced with the driving required. Overnight in Thessaloniki.
Day 3: Thessaloniki and Christian heritage
Explore Thessaloniki through its connection with Paul and its later Christian heritage. Visits can combine traditional Pauline sites, the old town and selected historic churches. A licensed guide can help distinguish biblical history, local tradition and the city’s later monuments. Overnight again in Thessaloniki.
Day 4: Philippi, Lydia and Kavala
Travel east towards Philippi, with an Amphipolis-area stop if it fits the agreed day. Explore the archaeological site of Philippi and visit the Lydia area associated with her baptism. Continue to Kavala, ancient Neapolis, for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Kavala and Thessaloniki drop-off
Spend time around Kavala’s harbour and the places commemorating Paul’s arrival at Neapolis, then return to the agreed drop-off in Thessaloniki. An airport connection must allow sufficient road travel and check-in time. Finish in Kavala or extend towards Athens if agreed in advance.
Suggested overnight plan: 1 night in Athens · 2 nights in Thessaloniki · 1 night in Kavala. Accommodation is confirmed separately in your proposal.
Good to Know
- Tailor the journey
Add more time for Bible study or reflection, request a specialist licensed guide, reverse the route, add Meteora as a separate monastic experience, or extend the journey for an Athens return. - Plan for the route
Pauline locations include archaeological evidence and places preserved through religious tradition. Church visits depend on services and local access. Worship, clergy meetings, baptisms and other religious arrangements require specific advance confirmation. Dress respectfully and tell us about your group’s denominational or pastoral needs. - Driver and licensed guiding
Your driver manages the road journey and shares local insights. You visit archaeological sites and museums independently unless a licensed tourist guide has been arranged. Tell us which visits you would like guided. - Walking and mobility
Passengers must transfer to a vehicle seat. Wheelchair storage, boarding assistance and vehicle suitability require advance confirmation. Tell us about walking limitations, strollers and other mobility equipment before booking. - Dates, pace and overnight stays
The duration and overnight locations shown are suggestions. Opening hours, travel conditions and your interests may require changes. Daily driving hours and any additions are agreed in your proposal. - Cancellation
Athenaos tours and transfers have free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Separately arranged accommodation, admissions and other third-party services follow the conditions stated in your proposal.
Pickup and Drop-off
- Pickup and final destination
The suggested journey begins in Athens and ends in Thessaloniki. Confirm your arrival and departure plans before booking. Starting in Thessaloniki, finishing in Kavala or returning to Athens can be designed as a different agreed route. - Airport or port connections
Provide your flight or ship details, arrival date and any fixed onward departure. We confirm the meeting point and allow for the road travel required. - Hotels and daily meetings
Your driver meets you at the agreed hotel entrance or another accessible point. Each day’s departure time and meeting arrangements are confirmed for your itinerary. - Details to send
