Overview

Travel from Athens into the Peloponnese for three days of ancient history, seaside towns and changing landscapes. This private itinerary connects Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nafplio and Ancient Olympia, with two overnight stops that turn a series of long day trips into one continuous journey.

Spend your first evening in Nafplio after exploring Mycenae, visit Epidaurus before travelling west on day two, and reserve the final morning for Olympia. The route balances major archaeological visits with time for waterfront walks and independent breaks. Some travel legs are long; we can add a night or reduce the number of visits to suit your pace.

Your Athens-based Athenaos team coordinates the private vehicle, driver and daily route. Ask us to include hotel arrangements, licensed guides or pre-arranged admissions in your proposal, or travel with accommodation you have selected yourself. Every service and price is confirmed before booking.

This is a suggested private itinerary. We confirm the final sequence, visit arrangements and overnight locations in your proposal.

Day 1: Corinth Canal, Mycenae and Nafplio

Depart Athens for a short Corinth Canal viewpoint stop where access permits. Continue to Mycenae to explore the citadel and associated sites, then settle into Nafplio. Enjoy time in the old town and along the waterfront. Overnight in Nafplio.

Day 2: Epidaurus and the journey to Olympia

Visit the ancient theatre and sanctuary of Epidaurus in the morning. After a break, travel across the Peloponnese to Olympia, allowing time for comfort stops. This is the main driving day of the itinerary. Overnight near Olympia.

Day 3: Ancient Olympia and return to Athens

Allow the morning for Olympia’s archaeological site and museum, with a licensed guide if arranged. Take a break before travelling back to Athens. We confirm the return route and any additional stops according to the season and your preferred arrival time.

Suggested overnight plan: 1 night in Nafplio · 1 night near Olympia. Accommodation is confirmed separately in your proposal.

Good to Know

  • Tailor the journey
Stay an extra night in Nafplio, add Nemea wine tasting, include Ancient Corinth, or extend the journey towards Delphi and Meteora.
  • Plan for the route
Archaeological visits involve walking over exposed, uneven ground. Bring sun protection and comfortable shoes. Access to monuments and museums depends on opening arrangements. Palamidi, wine tasting in Nemea and extra museums require time to be reserved in the agreed route.
  • Driver and licensed guiding
Your driver manages the road journey and shares local insights. You visit archaeological sites and museums independently unless a licensed tourist guide has been arranged. Tell us which visits you would like guided.
  • Walking and mobility
Passengers must transfer to a vehicle seat. Wheelchair storage, boarding assistance and vehicle suitability require advance confirmation. Tell us about walking limitations, strollers and other mobility equipment before booking.
  • Dates, pace and overnight stays
The duration and overnight locations shown are suggestions. Opening hours, travel conditions and your interests may require changes. Daily driving hours and any additions are agreed in your proposal.
  • Cancellation
Athenaos tours and transfers have free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure. Separately arranged accommodation, admissions and other third-party services follow the conditions stated in your proposal.

Pickup and Drop-off

  • Pickup and final destination
The suggested route starts and ends in Athens. We can plan an airport, port or alternative hotel pickup or drop-off when you enquire, with the extra distance included in your proposal.
  • Airport or port connections
Provide your flight or ship details, arrival date and any fixed onward departure. We confirm the meeting point and allow for the road travel required.
  • Hotels and daily meetings
Your driver meets you at the agreed hotel entrance or another accessible point. Each day’s departure time and meeting arrangements are confirmed for your itinerary.
